Coil Featured in COMO Business Times for ABK Biomedical Project

Coil Construction was recently featured in COMO Business Times for the construction kickoff of ABK Biomedical’s new facility at Cartwright Business Park in Ashland, Missouri.

Coil is working alongside ABK Biomedical, COR Development and the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) to bring the nearly 17,000-square-foot facility to life. The facility will support the commercial manufacturing of ABK Biomedical’s Eye90 microspheres, a Yttrium-90 medical device therapy being developed to treat liver cancer.

The project will transform an existing building at Cartwright Business Park into a specialized life sciences and manufacturing facility. Coil Construction will oversee the design and construction, with work expected to be completed in 2027.

The Ashland location also puts ABK Biomedical close to MURR, which will serve as the primary irradiation partner for Eye90 microspheres. The partnership brings together ABK Biomedical’s work in cancer treatment, MURR’s research and isotope production capabilities and local development and construction expertise.

The project also reflects the continued growth of the radiopharmaceutical industry, which brings together medical innovation, specialized manufacturing and isotope production to advance new cancer treatments. With ABK Biomedical’s work on Eye90 microspheres and its proximity to MURR, the new facility will help support radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and the growing life sciences sector in mid-Missouri.

“This milestone represents what can happen when medical innovation and local development and construction expertise come together,” said David Coil, president of Coil Construction. “We’re excited to help create a facility that will support ABK Biomedical’s important work while contributing to the continued growth of the life sciences industry in mid-Missouri.”

The project’s construction kickoff brought together leaders from ABK Biomedical, COR Development, MURR and Coil Construction, along with state and local leaders, to celebrate the investment and partnerships making the new facility possible.
